Welcome to Bridgend County Swim Squad, the Swim Wales Regional Performance Centre for Bridgend and the surrounding area. BCSS is a competitive club catering for competitive swimmers from Stage 7, Learn to Swim, through Pathway and Competitive Skills Squads to Performance Level.

We were formed from the merger of four local clubs – Bridgend, Cynffig, Maesteg, Pencoed and the Bridgend County Performance Centre. Our squads currently train at Ynysawdre and at local pools in Maesteg, Pencoed and Pyle. Some training sessions are also held at the National Pool, Swansea and Cardiff International Pool.

The Club focuses on Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and the Athlete Development Support Pathway (ADSP) for all swimmers and we are fully inclusive of swimmers throughout our club. We encourage and enable swimmers to reach their full competitive swimming potential.

New Head Coach Billy Pye has a wealth of experience, having coached at the very top of the sport. He is always looking at new ideas to motivate swimmers through a fresh approach in training procedures and the structure of the club. A team of dedicated and experienced coaches supports Billy and they all put in so much time and effort to help make BCSS one of the leading Performance Centres in Wales.

Our swimmers compete from Junior to National Level, attending as many local galas as the competition calendar allows. The Club has already produced swimmers who compete at regional, national and international levels, and have competed as a team in the Arena League Western Premier Division for the past ten years, reaching the division final in 2005, 2012-16.
